CAREER

You, the employee:

You are the lucky one with all the friends. You make an interesting and lasting impression, especially on women. You have them eating out of your hands, because you do not even cast a look in their direction.

You are a bundle of energy, often leaving others a little breathless. Your opinions are often considered impractical, simply because the critics are not tuned in to your frequency.

There are two of you around. The first kind is the suave, pipe-smoking professor type, with a relaxed manner. He's usually brilliant. The other one lives simply and is very sentimental. He is also brilliant. Both have a high degree of intelligence, as well as uncanny perception. They each soak up knowledge while appearing to be engrossed in some abstract theory. Their memories are weak but their intuitive powers more than make up for it. They're extremely odd in their habits, kind and sympathetic, usually very courteous, and they wear unusual combinations of clothing.

You are slow in asking for a raise, but you know what you are worth. You raise the issue at the right time, and move on to greener pastures if it is not worth the effort.

You, the boss

You can be a difficult boss at times. Your employees may literally have to wiggle a raise out of you, but when it comes through, it is generous. You believe in giving people what they deserve. You recognise a job well done. You have no sense of discrimination.Your employee is likely to be fired for stealing a postage stamp. You have your own code of ethics, but when it comes to business decisions, you are democratic. Opinions matter to you, the more, the better. You are very likely to request everyone's opinion on projected procedures-and sometimes even ask a subordinate to make the final decision.

You are usually willing to give your employees all the rope they ask for. But you can be unpredictable at times. There is always a change in the air around you. You have a lot of nervous energy, but your surface curiosity can be unnerving.

You live by the dictum of friendship. You make friends with the most recent employee, and even the competition. You are unpredictable, and this behaviour of yours can have your employees in a tizzy. You are best friends with your employee one day, and on the next, you are ready to bite their head off.

You, the colleague:

You question authority, since you dream of a work set-up 50 years from now. You throw your arms open to the world, and this makes you a good person to have around in the workplace. When you do get down to work, you attach to it a certain detached efficiency.

Careers and you:

You are humanitarian, idealistic in your beliefs and an ardent pursuer of causes. Non-profit organisations and trade unions would be a natural for you -- anything that will help the greater good. You care so deeply about your fellow man that the quest for knowledge and answers is never-ending. You enjoy a challenge whether it's a team meeting or a battle of bantering wits. You have strong beliefs -- you've spent plenty of time thinking about them -- and are bound to get the job done. You spend countless hours mulling over the possibilities for a project and may even come up with some startling conclusions, but it's all in a day's work. And it's never boring! A dull day is a nightmare for you.
